Choosing the right rug
Area Rug Size Guide:
Living Room:
- Small Rug (5x8 feet): Best for small spaces or under coffee tables. Front legs of furniture on the rug, back legs off.
- Medium Rug (8x10 feet): Fits under the front legs of all seating in a standard living room.
- Large Rug (9x12 feet or larger): Entire furniture arrangement sits on the rug, great for larger living rooms.
Dining Room:
- 8x10 feet Rug: Ideal for a standard 6-person dining table. The rug should extend beyond the chairs when pulled out.
- 9x12 feet Rug: Works well for larger dining tables seating 8 to 10 people.
Bedroom:
- 5x8 feet Rug: Perfect for a twin or full-sized bed, placed either horizontally at the foot of the bed or vertically along one side.
- 8x10 feet Rug: Fits under a queen bed, extending beyond both sides.
- 9x12 feet Rug: Works for a king bed, covering a large portion of the room.
Hallway/Entryway:
- Runner Rug (2x8 feet or 2x10 feet): Ideal for long, narrow hallways or entryways. Ensure it leaves space on each side.
